Inter 'keeper Samir Handanovic has had surgery after suffering a knee injury in training.

The news was announced on the Nerazzurri's official website earlier today.

“Samir Handanovic had an operation this morning following an injury to the meniscus of his right knee in training,” the notice read. “The treatment – carried out via arthroscopy – was a complete success.”

“The operation – at the IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia – was the work of Professor Franco Benazzo, with Inter's chief of medical staff Franco Combi in attendance.”

It's a blow for Inter, who spent €11m to prise the Slovenian shotstopper away from Udinese just a month and a half ago. The club did not specify when they expect Handanovic to return to action.
