Samir Handanovic may stay tied to Inter for the next couple of years as the Nerazzurri consider his future.
The 37-year-old Slovenian shot stopper’s contract expires with the Milanese club at the end of this season and a renewal seemed a little unlikely as Inter have already lined up Andre Onana to be their new number one, with the Cameroonian ready to join on a free transfer.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Handanovic could stay at Inter for another two years as the Nerazzurri are reportedly interested in offering him a two-year deal with a reduced salary.
They appreciate the 37-year-old’s presence in the dressing room and feel that he could be a useful and experienced backup as he enters the twilight of his career. It also takes a little pressure off Onana, giving him some time to settle in.
The 37-year-old Handanovic has made 41 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3720 minutes. In that time, he’s conceded 32 goals and helped keep 18 clean sheets.
