Samir Handanovic felt Inter played ‘a good match’ on Tuesday and was ‘not satisfied’ with the 2-0 defeat as he stressed Real Madrid ‘are not better than us’.

Real Madrid picked up another win against Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday and finished first in the group.

Champions League | Real Madrid 2-0 Inter: Barella sees red at the Bernabeu

But Handanovic felt the Nerazzurri did well against the Spanish giants and was not happy with the result.

Toni Kroos and Marcos Asensio scored the goals for the hosts at Santiago Bernabeu, when Nicolò Barella was sent off for Inter.

“In the end they won 2-0, it was a good match, but it teaches us that we must be clinical and that we must exploit what we are given,” Handanovic told SportMediaset.

“I’m satisfied with the qualification, which was a target, and when it arrives it’s always good. I’m not satisfied with the match because, for me, Real are not better than us.”

Inter were already through to the last 16 ahead of the game in Madrid but now face a tougher draw in the knockout stages.

The Nerazzurri return to Serie A action this weekend against Cagliari, where they sit one point behind leaders and local rivals Milan.

  1. LOL! Real Madrid is WAY Better than Inter ! In the last 10 years Inter has never beaten a Pot A team so in the round of 16 you will get your chance to make that happen.

I just don’t like how this team reacts when they lose. When Inter lost Lazio fair and square they swarmed the Lazio team like a bunch of cry baby sissies and yesterday the leader of the cry baby sissies AKA Barella got a useless red card. I guess Conte’s DNA is still alive and well in this squad.

  2. Sure. Which fairytale are you gonna tell us next, Handanovic? That Antonio Conte doesn’t wear a wig?

  3. Inter are exactly the same as last year under Conte did not take their chances
They might have improved slightly but not a lot

  4. Inter done well in both legs against RM but lost both because they did not take their chances. RM obviously better and more experienced. Who knows in the future when the Saudis take over.

  5. Barella and Skriniar both had the sort of chances that you cannot afford to waste in a knock-out round game, against a top team. Most of Inter‘s crosses were dealt with easily by either Militao or Courtois. Often the ball bobbled to the top of Real Madrid’s box, where a central mid should have been waiting for it. Instead Brozovic was playing conservatively and was a few yards further back, and nothing resulted from it.
