Samir Handanovic is believed to be a major doubt to feature for Inter against Bologna this evening, as he is struggling with a back problem.

It kicks off at 19.15 UK time (18.15 GMT) at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

This is a rescheduled Serie A Week 20 fixture, originally called off on January 6 due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Rossoblu squad.

A win would put Inter top of the table ahead of Milan, but there are problems for coach Simone Inzaghi to deal with.

According to multiple reports including Sky Sport Italia, Handanovic is struggling with a back injury and a decision will only be made in the hour before the game whether he will be risked between the sticks.

The alternative would be Ionut Radu, the Romanian who has already said he will leave this summer, as he is frustrated at the lack of playing time even in the Coppa Italia.

Inter are already weakened for this trip, as Robin Gosens, Arturo Vidal and Felipe Caicedo are out of action.

4 thought on “Handanovic major injury concern for Inter tonight”
  1. Not a huge downgrade. Handa has been us Inter fans’ biggest gripe for large parts of this season, and many of us wanted to see Radu get a chance. Now, he might be less confident with his feet, but in terms of shot stopping? I think he is as good (or bad) as Handa is at that, currently.

  2. Luigi, Ungrateful Interisti like you deserve what Radu did. Handanovic has carried Inter for a decade. Nothing but respect for him.
