Bologna midfielder Gary Medel has been sent home early from international duty with Chile after suffering a hamstring strain.
The player took part in last night’s 0-0 draw with Colombia, but pulled out in the closing stages clutching the back of his thigh.
A statement from the Chilean football federation confirmed Medel has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury in the right leg.
He is therefore returning to Italy and the Stadio Dall’Ara to begin a personalised recovery programme with Bologna.
