“Hamsik is in Shanghai at the moment for tomorrow’s game (with new club Dalian Yifang), but he rarely sleeps the night after a match anyway,” member of his entourage Martin Petras told Radio CRC.

“It’ll be 4.30am in China when it kicks off, but he’ll certainly watch Napoli-Juve and I expect it’ll be an emotional occasion for him too.

“He still writes to the players and is very close to Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens and Raul Albiol.”

Hamsik left after more than a decade at Napoli, but only six months into Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure.

“If Napoli had been top of the table, I don’t think he would’ve left. Despite everything, he said Sarri is his favourite Coach. I asked him this only last week, he said Ancelotti is a great Coach, but he didn’t spend enough time working with him.

“Sarri made Marek rediscover the joy of playing football, after Rafa Benitez.”
