Tomorrow’s Europa League tie pits the Vesuviani and their 27-year-old against his boyhood club, Slovan Bratislava.
“I’ll be face to face with a club where I spent two beautiful years which opened the way to football on the international stage,” Hamsik has reflected to Pravda.sk today.
“It’ll be an encounter that will have a special meaning for me”. My parents and my closest friends will be at the stadium
“Slovan are one of the strongest and oldest clubs in Slovakia. They are not to be underestimated.
“They’ve had a difficult start to the League, but they’re getting there. It’s also important to differentiate between League and Cup, they’re different competitions.
“I wish Slovan all the best and hope that they start winning again, but only after the game against us.”
Hamsik believes that this match could also act as another building block for Napoli’s season, after their slow start.
“In our last game we got the three points that we really needed.
“We’re all happy, even though our performance wasn’t anywhere near good enough. I think that with that victory we’ve turned a corner.”
