Napoli captain Marek Hamsik “can’t understand” why his side weren’t awarded a penalty in the draw with Pescara.

The Partenopei came back from 2-0 down to the newly-promoted side for a 2-2 draw last night, but it could have been even better for the Neapolitans.

Referee Piero Giacomelli initially awarded a penalty for a foul on Piotr Zielinski, but changed his mind after consulting with the extra officials.

“I don’t understand why the referee changed his mind,” Hamsik admitted on his official website.

“We have to accept the decision though.

“In the first half we gave Pescara too much space and they were good at exploiting it. In the second half we changed our play and we did better.

“I’m sorry we weren’t able to get the third goal, we’re disappointed not to have got off to a good start but we look forward and we’re already thinking about the clash with Milan.”
