Marek Hamsik had “a magical night” in Naples against Manchester City and confirms his wife is alright after a carjacking incident.

There were concerns the Slovak international would be distracted, as earlier today his pregnant wife was carjacked in the city.

“If someone hurts my family, then that’s just terrible. There is anger, but now it has passed. My wife is fine, that is the important thing,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Hamsik had a great game in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City and could’ve made it 3-1, but he hit the upright.

“This was a magical night and a very important victory. We created many scoring opportunities today and should’ve finished it off earlier to avoid the tension at the end.

“It’s a shame I hit the upright, but the important thing was to win this game and get the three points.”

Now Napoli’s qualification is in their hands, as they will go through if they inflict a sixth consecutive defeat on Villarreal.

Even a draw or less could also be enough if Manchester City do not beat the already-qualified Bayern Munich.

“It is going to be a tough game against Villarreal, but it all depends on us now,” added Hamsik.
