VfB Stuttgart have been in close contact with Milan as the two parties discuss the terms of a deal for prolific striker Serhou Guirassy.

The Rossoneri have long been on the hunt for a new number nine to lead their squad, needing a striker to fill the void left behind by Oliver Giroud’s imminent departure. With Rafael Leao on the left and Christian Pulisic on the right, a centre forward is needed to complete the frontline.

Milan have identified a number of options to bolster their attack, including Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, but neither would come cheap, with the former costing around €40m and the latter having a €70m price tag.

Milan meeting for Guirassy

Page 22 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Stuttgart are currently in Italy and took the chance to meet Milan, where the two clubs discussed the terms of a deal for Guirassy, who has a €17.5m release clause in his contract.

The price tag wasn’t the focus of the talks, but instead how a deal could be formulated and other details for a possible transfer in the summer.

The 28-year-old Guinean striker was on fire this season, scoring 30 goals and providing four assists in 30 matches across the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
