Members of Matteo Guendouzi’s entourage have informed Il Corriere dello Sport that Unai Emery wants to reunite with the Lazio midfielder at Aston Villa this summer.

Guendouzi is expected to leave Lazio after just one season, given his dissatisfaction with new coach Igor Tudor.

The France international lost his starting status when the Croatian was appointed in March and Wednesday’s printed edition of Corriere dello Sport on page 14 confirms the ex-Arsenal man is on the market for €30m.

According to the report, Aston Villa are strongly interested in the 25-year-old who scored one goal in 66 appearances under Emery at Arsenal.

The Rome-based paper claims that members of the Guendouzi entourage say negotiations are not at an advanced stage but that the conditions are present for progress in the coming two weeks.

According to the report, Emery is ‘pushing’ to bring Guendouzi back to the Premier League.

The France midfielder joined Lazio for €18m from Olympique Marseille last summer and finished his first Serie A season with two goals and three assists in 33 league games.
