Genoa director Andres Blazquez insists that Albert Gudmundsson won’t leave until the Grifone sign a valuable replacement and insists that Inter have made no offers, while Fiorentina‘s proposal was rejected.

Genoa will only sell Gudmundsson if they can sign a valuable replacement this summer, club director Blazquez told Tuttosport.

“There are offers for Albert, but none have matched our demands,” he said.

“I understand his desire to leave at the best moment of his career, but Genoa is the most important thing to us. We can’t let Albert leave until we have a solution that makes us feel good—on the same level or even better. As of today, Albert won’t go.

Genoa: Gudmundsson will leave on one condition but no Inter offer

“We’ve never received a formal offer from Inter. Many clubs are interested. Fiorentina have made an offer, but we didn’t accept it. I think Inter are interested, but there are no offers. If offers are unconvincing and we don’t find an appropriate replacement, we’ll 100% keep Albert. We are happy to keep him and he would not be so disappointed.”

Genoa sold Mateo Retegui to Atalanta this summer and reports that 777 Partners is experiencing financial issues.

“I wouldn’t say so,” insisted Blazquez.

Genoa target Fabio Silva or Matkovic to replace Gudmundsson

“We predicted a striker could leave, so we invested €27m in signing Vitinha. We signed Ankeye in January, but it’s a shame he won’t be available in these two weeks. The defence and midfield are practically the same as last season, and we added Zanoli on loan with an option to buy.

“We signed Bohinen and De Winter permanently for an extra €15m. We have invested over €40m. If we have the support from the owners, we can continue to invest.”

Lastly, Blazquez denied that Saudi investors are ready to join the Miami-based fund.

“I’ve checked internally as I had read rumours in the papers. It’s not true. I’m not saying it’s positive or negative; it’s a fact.”
