He had also been linked with Tottenham and Manchester United, but instead put pen to paper on a renewal yesterday.

“It’s a dream come true for me to know I can wear this shirt even longer,” Guarin told Sky Sport Italia.

“Palacio celebrated his contract extension with a goal? I hope I can do the same, for the team and everyone else. But I’m already happy. However, I’d obviously like a victory for the entire team.

“Can I finish my career at Inter? You never know. Anything can happen in football but my decision was to choose Inter. I’m relaxed and want to stay here.

“In the two years I’ve been at Inter I’ve learned a lot on a personal level and as regards the team. You earn things gradually, day by day, especially when it comes to people’s faith.

“My promise to Inter fans is that I’ll give my all on the field for this jersey and the supporters who always believed in me.”

The Nerazzurri are fresh from a 2-1 home defeat to Atalanta after hitting the woodwork four times and Guarin revealed Coach Walter Mazzarri’s reaction.

“He wasn’t angry with us. We have to finish games off earlier, as we lost concentration right at the end. He was disappointed, like all of us, but I’d be more worried if we didn’t create so many chances.

“Now there are nine Cup Finals and we need to win them all, then see where we end up. I hope to score, because it helps the team and is enormously satisfying.”
