Fredy Guarin finally started training with Inter this week and hopes he can do enough to “prove my worth” for a permanent move.

The player arrived on loan in January from Porto, but is yet to feature due to a serious calf injury that has kept him out for four months.

“I try not to think about the pressure of the loan situation. I try only to prove my worth. The renewal depends on what decisions the club makes, but I am calm and can only say I’ll do my best to show what I can do,” he told Inter Channel.

“I spoke with President Massimo Moratti a couple of times. He has a very positive mentality and I hope to repay his faith in me as soon as possible.

“My teammates have been very important during this period, just as the fans and directors were. I had the chance to talk to some supporters and they really made me feel welcome. I hope to help them soon by giving my contribution on the field.

“The last week’s work has been very important. It was an extremely serious injury and after four months it won’t be easy to immediately get back to the top level.”

Guarin also watched his teammates crash out of the Champions League after a 2-1 win over Olympique Marseille eliminated them on away goals.

“The team gave their all against Marseille and left their souls out there, but it didn’t go well and it created great sadness. Now we have to look forward and take the positives from this experience.”
