Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola admits he will coach an Italian club one day and compares his Barcelona side to Arrigo Sacchi’s Milan.

Guardiola gave an interview to Bobo TV, the Twitch show hosted by former Italy striker Bobo Vieri with Antonio Cassano, Daniele Adani and Nicola Ventola.

Guardiola played with Brescia and Roma between 2001 and 2003.

“When I arrived in Brescia I was staying in a hideous hotel, but I felt like a star. I met Mazzone and he told me: ‘Look Pep, I didn’t want you here. We bought Federico Giunti and we must decide how we can play.’

“He was like a father to me, it’s a pity we couldn’t achieve more with Roberto Baggio in the team. He was so smart, always in the right place.”

His Barcelona side is regarded as one of the best teams of all time.

“Xavi and Iniesta were incredible. They knew exactly what to do. Sometimes you need more than two touches. Sometimes you need five or six, it depends on the moment. That’s why Barcelona won so many trophies, the players were special like those of Sacchi’s Milan.”

However, it’s impossible to talk about that Barcelona side without mentioning Leo Messi.

“He is the best one, his mentality is incredible. He’s never lost a game in training and if he lost it, he would leave the training session. There are only four or five players in history like him. He can play everywhere and his mentality is incredible.

“I thought he should play as a False 9, because on the flank, he would spend 20 minutes without touching the ball. And the best player must get the ball as many times as possible. Before the game against Real Madrid, I decided to play him in that position.”

Guardiola has coached in Spain, England and Germany, whill he ever come to Italy one day?

“At the beginning, I was struggling at City and Bayern Munich. At Barcelona, we never put crosses in the box, but at Bayern Munich, I had Ribery, Robben, Lewandowski and Muller, I had to use the crosses and I will do the same when I come to Italy," Guardiola said.
