Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is impressed by Inter‘s results this season: ‘They are flying and will win the Italian league if nothing wrong happens.’

Manchester City beat Inter in last season’s Champions League Final, but many thought the Premier League giants would not have struggled as much as they did in Istanbul.

Guardiola mentioned the Nerazzurri before an FA Cup game with Luton.

“Look at the quality of our opponents here and in Europe, look at Inter now, they’re flying in Italy,” the Spanish tactician said as quoted by CitXtra.

“Last season it was, ‘Ah Inter in the Champions League…’ We knew it, how tough, look at now, they’re going to win the Italian league if nothing wrong is going to happen and next time it’s winning three or four goals a game, in the Champions League they beat a tough, tough, incredibly tough opponent like Atletico Madrid in the first-leg. So everything is really, really difficult.”

Inter are enjoying a nine-point lead at the top of the Serie A table, but they can stretch the gap from second-placed Juventus tonight in a home fixture against Atalanta.

The Nerazzurri have the best attack and the less-beaten defence in the league, having netted 63 times in 25 games, conceding just 12 goals.

They also beat Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at San Siro last week. Their captain, Lautaro Martinez, is Serie A’s leading scorer with 22 goals in 23 league matches.
