Fabio Grosso was at the centre of a heated confrontation with his Olympique Lyon squad just days before he was dismissed by the club.

The 46-year-old Italian coach lasted just 10 weeks with the chaotic Ligue 1 outfit, arriving on September 18 after the dismissal of Laurent Blanc before his official dismissal on November 30.

During his time with Lyon, Grosso managed just one win and two draws across seven matches, failing to get the team off the bottom of the Ligue 1 table. The team currently sit five points from safety and seem on track to suffer relegation.

As reported by L’Equipe via Calciomercato.com, Grosso was left enraged after Lyon’s 2-0 loss to Lille on November 26 and he confronted the squad at the training ground the following day.

Speaking furiously to his players, the Italian coach stated: “If you think I’m the problem, go and tell Textor (Lyon’s owner, ed.) to kick me out, but first you have to have the balls to say it to my face. I only ask you to tell me first.”

Grosso had clashed with various Lyon players in recent weeks, including captain Alexandre Lacazette,  Rayan Cherki and Nicolas Tagliafico.
