Italy international Vincenzo Grifo is looking forward to reuniting with his compatriots in the Europa League Round of 16 against Juventus.

The Old Lady has been paired with the Bundesliga side after beating Nantes 4-1 on aggregate in the knock-out play-off.

“Juventus are a fantastic team, with many talented players and a fantastic stadium,” Grifo said in an interview with Freiburg’s official Facebook page.

“One always dreams of facing these teams. Clearly, I am happy to reunite with some of my teammates in the national team. We’ll go there with great motivation.”

Grifo made his senior Italy debut in September 2018, scoring four goals in eight appearances with the Azzurri.

He recently became the most prolific Italian player in the Bundesliga, leapfrogging 2006 Italy World Cup winner Luca Toni.

Juventus will host Freiburg in Turin for the first leg on March 9, visiting the Bundesliga side in Germany the following week, on March 16.

Grifo had been included in Italy’s preliminary squad for Euro 2020 but was eventually cut from the final 26-man squad list.

Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci, Federico Chiesa and Manuel Locatelli were part of the squad while the Italy internationals currently at the Allianz Stadium also include Moise Kean, Nicolò Fagioli, Fabio Miretti, Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Rugani, Mattia Perin and Federico Gatti.
