The Athletic claim Mason Greenwood has agreed personal terms and accepted a move to Olympique Marseille from Manchester United, cutting out Lazio, Napoli and Juventus.

While Marseille had already worked out a transfer fee with Manchester United last week, the player was hesitating and keeping everyone on edge.

He was partially stalling due to the denunciation from the Mayor of Marseille and many fans, who protested they did not want him at the Ligue 1 side due to his past domestic abuse charges.

This allowed Lazio, Napoli and Juventus to remain potentially in the race to sign the Manchester United outcast this summer.

Greenwood ends the stalemate

However, this afternoon it is suggested that Greenwood has accepted the transfer and agreed personal terms, so it is effectively now a done deal.

Sky Sport Italia and Footmercato also confirm this news.

He still needs to fly in, pass a medical and sign the contract, but the hard work is complete for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

They are paying €27.6m plus €4m in add-ons and giving Manchester United up to 50 per cent of the sell-on fee.

  1. This lad is looking forward to disaster, I can’t phatom what’s in his mind, their fans do NOT want him and not because they think he isn’t good enough of a player but because of his actions. He has no European football, so the only thing he gets more than coming to Serie A is money. I am baffled but I feel we dodged a bullet that Marseille won’t and it’s by choice.
