FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has vowed to change the format of Serie C and “take this opportunity to make a cultural revolution”.
Serie C has three tiers and 60 clubs currently suffering due to the coronavirus outbreak in Italy and the FIGC President has claimed that the Lega must act on an opportunity to change the outdated system of Italian football.
“Today, Serie C suffers a lot and we must take this opportunity to make a cultural revolution,” he told Radio Cusano TV Italia. “We need a new approach within the management.

“I have already put my proposals forward and we are discussing them. A Serie C of three tiers is no longer good.
“We need to return to a Serie C with 20 teams and then 40 other clubs in a semi-professional league.
“We will identify the teams that must be part of an elite Serie C by following the ranking, there are clubs that come before others.
“These decisions depend on the Lega Pro and President [Francesco] Ghirelli is already aware of the proposal and he is all for it, but it depends on the clubs.”
