Italy will host the Netherlands in Bergamo on October 14 and the FIGC President Gabriele Gravina believes it represents ‘a further step towards normality’.
Bergamo has been one of the hardest hit cities in Italy during the coronavirus pandemic but Gravina revealed the Gewiss Stadium could be open for more than 1,000 fans when Holland arrive next month.
“It will be an important game, a further step towards normality,” Gravina told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s a duty on the part of the world of football to return to Bergamo.

“Against the Netherlands we also hope for a significant presence of the public.”
Gravina has said the protocols should be equal for all the different categories in football, as Serie A is currently the only League with fans in the stands.
“Football has shown a sense of responsibility in respecting the protocols. We completed last season and the result is there for all to see.
“Contagion equal to zero and respect for the protocols. I would wait until October 7. There’s a small presence in stadiums now, but football is unique and there can’t be difference between Serie A, B or amateurs.
“We will soon receive answers from the CTS on some of our requests.”
