Italy is lagging behind schedule in terms of vaccinating the general population but the Italian national team will be fully vaccinated in time for the tournament this summer.

It kicks off on June 11 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, when Italy host Turkey for the opener.

UEFA has encouraged vaccinations to ensure the tournament can go ahead as planned and FIGC President Gravina confirmed the Azzurri have started vaccinating their players.

“I thank the Government for giving us the possibility of hosting the Finals of the European Championship in Italy and will allow us to do so in maximum safety,” Gravina told TMW outside Spallanzani hospital.

“Both for the athletes who have been vaccinated today and for all those who want to experience the sporting event.

“Today, 12 players in Rome and 14 in Milan were vaccinated, according to the instructions of coach Roberto Mancini.

“Then, this number will have to be restricted in view of the European Championship.”
