After claiming that Italian government has no “motivation to extend the limitations” beyond the current regions, he stressed, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, that the choice of carrying out the respective games behind closed doors “was not an imposition, but a possibility given to federations and Leagues”.
The Minister of Sport has revealed that the government will evaluate in the coming days but “there are no conditions or motivations, even as a precaution, to extend the limitation to the rest of the country”.
“If the data don’t give us different indications, it could also be that we will not extend the stop of sporting events beyond March 2. We will monitor the evolution in the coming days,” Spadafora told the Gazzetta dello Sport, among others.
“All cases, even those of the last few hours, would be attributable to the two known outbreaks and this would mean that the spread has stopped.”
But he stressed that the “safety and health comes first, ahead of a match and ahead of a full stadium”.
