Milan are reportedly preparing to offer Mario Götze an opportunity in Serie A but the former Germany international will have to take a massive pay cut.

The Borussia Dortmund player has been linked with Milan since Zvonimir Boban arrived last summer, but things have changed at San Siro since last summer.

BVB confirmed they will not renew his deal at the Westfalenstadion and Götze is preparing for a new chapter after having returned to Dortmund in 2016 from a three-year stint at Bayern Munich.

Ralf Rangnick seems set to arrive this summer, Boban has been sacked and Paolo Maldini might be heading for the door after the campaign too.

Calciomercato.com claims that Rangnick has approved of bringing the World Cup winner to San Siro but his current salary of €8m a year will not be met by the Rossoneri.

It’s expected that Götze would have to take a pay cut no matter where he goes, but the outlet insists he will have a host of opportunities elsewhere and the question is if he will be willing to sign a deal at Milanello worth between €2.5m to €3.5m a year.
