Udinese coach Luca Gotti wasn’t entirely content with the 3-3 thriller away to Sampdoria. ‘There were far too many mistakes for a Serie A team.’

The Friulani were leading twice at Marassi, then fell 3-2 down to a Fabio Quagliarella penalty and Antonio Candreva stunner, before Fernando Forestieri bundled over the line to seal the stalemate.

“Considering the way the game was going, perhaps the draw is the right result. It was an unusual game, because you don’t often see this amount of space in Serie A, this many errors, both small and big,” Gotti told DAZN.

Both clubs were on long losing streaks and at least concluded those, but had to ultimately share the spoils.

“I am satisfied with the team spirit, they played like real men, having seen so many chances go close and then allow Sampdoria back into it in puerile fashion, we showed determination to get it back on track. However, there were far too many mistakes for a Serie A team.

“We need to recover some of our injured players, get more of the new and younger players into the squad to understand our tactics, so we can become more of a team.”
