“Everyone has been through a week of uncertainty, but we made the most of the situation by stepping up the fitness work in the first three days, then went back to specific training aimed at the Fiorentina game,” said Gotti.
This fixture was called off a week ago just hours before it was meant to start at the Dacia Arena, but now all Serie A games will be behind closed doors until April 3 due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Rather than reschedule those in future, it was decided to simply shuffle along the calendar so those Week 26 games will be played instead of Week 27.
“We cannot know how the players will react to playing behind closed doors, as the crowd represent a strong emotional and motivational element of the sport.
“We’ll train today in the empty stadium so that we can get accustomed to the atmosphere. It’ll feel like an unreal situation, but the points at stake will be very real indeed.
“Fiorentina are a strong side with several very talented young players. I expect them to come here clammed up in defence, ready to counter at speed with quick vertical passes.”
