“We played a good first half, Verona made us struggle on a physical level, but eventually we won the game also thanks to substitutions,” Gotti told Sky Sport.

“We’ve seen something different from Deulofeu over the last couple of weeks.

“He’s not old. He’s still relatively young. He played for Milan and Barcelona, then he moved to the Premier League.

“I don’t know what happened before. I can say he is a great professional, sometimes you have to stop him because he wants to do too much. Right now, after an injury, he must focus on the quality of the training rather than on quantity.

“I see a player who wants to go beyond his level, he wants to become an even better player.”

Udinese are unbeaten in the last four Serie A games, but Gotti was reportedly at risk of sacking back in January.

“The only time I had the feeling I could be sacked was when I was talking to you,” the coach admitted.

“That being said, if the source is reliable, as you are, then I should have been worried, but the club never gave me the impression I could have been sacked.”
