Robin Gosens underlined his change in perspective and mindset following his move from Atalanta to Inter.

The 27-year-old German wing back joined the Nerazzurri in a deal worth around €25m in total in the January transfer window, being an exciting reinforcement for Simone Inzaghi’s side. His arrival was hampered a little by a hamstring injury but he’s since returned to some fitness and has made a handful of appearances.

Speaking to 11 Freunde, Gosens discussed his first impressions at Inter following the move from Atalanta.

“I’ve started all over again here, you have to prove you deserve your place. At Atalanta I was one of the players who had been there the longest and could do anything, here I’m new and at least at the beginning I’m being watched.”

He then touched on how things started to change once he changed his mindset and approach.

“The first few days were about confronting myself, I wanted to be what I am right away but I had the feeling that I had to hold back. Then, once I got in touch with the locker room, there is less distance between what I want to express and what I really bring out.”

The 27-year-old Gosens has made seven Inter appearances following his arrival, scoring a goal in the 3-0 Coppa Italia semi-final win over Milan earlier this week. Contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2026, the German wing back is hoping to become a reliable and dangerous regular in Inzaghi’s squad.
