Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens has revealed that his ‘childhood dream’ is to play for Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga.

The 25-year-old has helped La Dea to fourth in Serie A and the quarter-finals of the Champions League this term, but the German has claimed he would love to return home one day.

“It would be a dream,” he told ZDF. “Indeed, it’s my dream to play in the Bundesliga.

“Maybe it’s not something that will happen right now but doing it with Schalke 04 is a childhood dream of mine.”

Gosens moved to Holland in July 2012, when he left Vfl Rhede and moved to Vitesse Arnhem. After five years in Dutch football, and spells at FC Dordrecht and Heracles Almelo, the defender was brought to Bergamo for €900,000 in July 2017.

Now, President Antonio Percassi can set a price tag of around €30m for their wingback, but Schalke are not expected to have the resources to prise him away from the Orobici in the upcoming transfer market.
