Inter were concerned following the knee issue for Nicolo Barella that cropped up in the win over Udinese, but now they can breath a sigh of relief following some good news.
The 25-year-old Italian midfielder has been one of the most important players in Simone Inzaghi’s squad this season, playing a key role in the centre of the pitch in the 3-5-2 system. The Euro 2020 winner has made 44 appearances across all competitions so far this season, only missing four games.
As reported by Sky Sports Italia, Barella is expected to be a part of the squad that’ll face Empoli On Friday evening. The Italian trained with the squad today and is now working towards full fitness, giving Inzaghi a little more room to manoeuvre as the title race comes to a boil.
Different news for Alessandro Bastoni, who will not be risked against the Tuscan side; the 23-year-old defender suffered a calf injury recently and so will be rested ahead of the Coppa Italia final against Juventus.
