Cristiano Ronaldo wished good luck to his ‘friend’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the Norwegian left Manchester United, and Ronaldo’s social media highlights the different relationships he had with his coaches at Juventus.

Manchester United and Solskjaer parted ways by mutual agreement after a 4-1 loss against Claudio Ranieri’s Watford. Former midfielder Michael Carrick, who was part of Solskjaer’s coaching staff and a teammate of Ronaldo in his first spell at Old Trafford, has taken over on a short-term basis until United appoint an interim coach for the rest of the season.

Ronaldo paid tribute to his former coach with a message on social media: “He’s been my striker when I first came to Old Trafford and he’s been my coach since I came back to Man United,” the Portuguese star wrote.

“But most of all, Ole is an outstanding human being. I wish him the best in whatever his life has reserved for him. Good luck, my friend! You deserve it!”

Ronaldo was on very good terms with his coach, contrary to what happened at Juventus during his three-year spell in Turin.

His first season under Massimiliano Allegri saw him score only 21 goals in 31 appearances, the fewest amount of goals in a single campaign in nine years.

However, he was on good terms with Allegri, which was proved by a tweet shared after Allegri’s sacking in 2019.

“Thank you, boss. We’ve spent only one season together, but it was exceptional because you are not only a great coach, but also a great man. It was a pleasure to work with you.”

Ronaldo also worked with Andrea Pirlo and Maurizio Sarri in Turin.

Despite scoring 31 goals in 33 appearances under Sarri, they have never been on good terms and it’s no coincidence Ronaldo didn’t mention the former Chelsea coach on social media after his sacking.

How Sarri’s relationship with Juventus collapsed, also because of Ronaldo

He had a far better relationship with Andrea Pirlo, under whom he scored 29 goals in 33 games.

“Thank you Maestro, it was a pleasure to be coached by you,” Ronaldo wrote in an Instagram story.

When Allegri returned to Turin last summer, his relationship with Ronaldo had changed.

During his unveiling press conference, the Italian coach suggested that CR7 had to accept rotations throughout the campaign, while the 36-year-old was looking for an escape route from Turin, which Manchester United eventually offered.
