The Disciplinary Commission has given Fiorentina forward Nicolas Gonzalez a one-match ban after his sending off against Inter and the player apologised on social media.

The Viola eventually lost 3-1 to the reigning champions, after Gonzalez was shown his second yellow card in the 78th minute.

The Sporting Judge’s decision has arrived regarding the Serie A games on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Gonzalez disqualified for one game due to ‘a double yellow card for protests against the match officials’.

Hellas Verona are also fined €10,000 due to their supporters’ behaviour in the second half of the 2-2 draw against Salernitana.

The statement revealed the fine was issued due to the fans ‘chanting insulting territorial chants against the supporters of the opposing team’.

“I want to apologise to my teammates and the fans for the incident yesterday,” Gonzalez wrote on social media. “I let myself be carried away by emotions and adrenaline.

“Our path continues and it’s very long. Forza Viola.”
