Palermo defender Giancarlo Gonzalez has arrived to undergo his medical ahead of a transfer to Bologna.

The 29-year-old Costa Rica international arrived from Columbus Crew in 2014 for €3.8m, becoming the most expensive player to ever be sold by a Major League Soccer club.

With the Rosanero’s relegation to Serie B and his contract due to expire in 2018, Gonzalez decided it was time to move on.

According to Sportitalia, ‘Pipa’ arrived in Bologna today and will have his medical examinations tomorrow.
