The Croatia international limped off during his country’s Nations League match against Spain this week and missed the 1-0 defeat to Parma on Saturday.

According to the latest reports, he has been diagnosed with gonalgia in his left knee.

It is an inflammation of the cartilage, an after-effect of a sprain he had suffered during the 2018 World Cup.

His condition must now be evaluated on a daily basis, but Vrsaljko is out of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

He is also a major doubt to feature against Sampdoria next weekend.
