The former Orobici captain spoke about the surprising exit from the Bergamaschi last winter, after a falling out with coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

The Argentine forward, who had established himself as a fan favourite and one of the most important players at the Gewiss Stadium, feels he made ‘the right decision’ by moving to Spain.

“I’m still trying to understand how all this happened,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “I know that I’m not the culprit, because we couldn’t go on like this. I made the right decision.

“If I think of Bergamo, I feel sad. Even today, I find it hard to watch Atalanta. It hurts me to see my former mates.

“I’m happy for them because they are doing well. I hope that the emotions can change over the months.”

The forward admitted he had many options when it became clear that he was leaving Atalanta.

“I had great offers from the MLS and from Arabia, offers with a lot of money,” he said. “My priority was Sevilla.

“I knew there were people who wanted me but doing to certain countries is like disappearing. Now, I’m proud to be here.”
