“Looking over my two seasons in Florence, it didn’t go the way I wanted,” he confessed to reporters in Turkey.

“I was very unlucky at the start, getting injured and being ruled out for five months. That injury put too much pressure on me and the club. I still want to thank the fans for their affection.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to make, as I had a good rapport with Fiorentina, but I needed a change of scenery and a new challenge. I think I made the right choice.

“Besiktas are a big club, the most important in Turkey, and I realised that the moment I got to Istanbul. I turned down other offers to come here.

“I can show my qualities in the penalty area and predict a good season ahead. How many goals will I score? There are many factors that determine the number of goals. I know that I can do well if I am physically fit.”
