The Orobici captain leaves Bergamo after a falling out with Gian Piero Gasperini, but stressed he has no regrets from his stay at the Nerazzurri.
“I would do everything I did from the first day in Bergamo,” he told the reporters at the airport, according to TMW.
“We made history with this club. Sometime things happen, but now the club is at the top in Europe.”
He admitted it’s a weird feeling leaving Italy.
“Leaving this country after so many years in this city,” he continued. “I’m sad but also happy. They are strange feelings.”
Gomez sent a message to the fans before boarding the plane to Spain.
“I’m really sorry, I will miss them so much,” he said. “Bergamo is in my heart. We will see each other again soon, for sure.”
He said he had already spoken to patron Antonio Percassi before leaving: “I have already talked to them and they know what I think. My feelings and how much I love everyone.”
Gasperini too?
“Sure, sure.”
