Jude Bellingham will be officially crowned as the winner of the 2023 Golden Boy award on Monday evening when the prestigious annual ceremony takes place in Turin later this evening.

Established by Italian outlet Tuttosport in 2003, the Golden Boy award celebrates the best players aged under 21 from Europe’s top divisions each calendar year.

Since its inception, the Golden Boy awards have been handed out to an impressive list of players who have gone on to achieve success at the highest level, including Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

Bellingham was announced as the winner from a 20-player strong shortlist on November 17 after a stellar year for Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and the England national team.

Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini is the highest-ranking Italian player on the 2023 shortlist, finishing in 15th place.

Scalvini’s former teammate Rasmus Hojlund has also made the cut after an impressive end to the season with Atalanta, which led to a record-breaking €85m transfer to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
