Diego Godin confirms he received offers from Turkey and Russia, as Cagliari warned ‘any players who get the right bid are on the market.’

The former Atletico Madrid and Inter defender is currently on vacation in Uruguay and spoke to Otra Cabeza about his transfer situation.

“I have another year left on the contract, plus an option to extend for another year after that,” said Godin.

“I’ll return to Sardinia next week for pre-season training. The President said they are going through some economic difficulties, so any players who get the right bid are on the market.

“They received an offer from Russia two or three weeks ago, plus another one from Turkey, but nobody called me directly with the details. I have Cagliari in my mind, that is the truth of the matter.”

The 35-year-old has been linked with Besiktas, who probably represent the Turkish proposal that Cagliari received.

Cagliari are also on the verge of sending Godin’s fellow Uruguay international Nahitan Nandez to Inter, on loan with option to buy.

“It’s true, he is in the same situation, an offer arrived and they are evaluating it. Cagliari wouldn’t want to sell anyone, but unfortunately the pandemic has hit the small clubs hard in financial terms.”
