‘Goal-line technology ok’

The President of the Italian referees’ association, the AIA, has hinted that goal-line technology will be introduced next term.

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio has already declared that technology will be introduced from next season, and Marcello Nicchi seems to echo those words.

“We’re likely to see goal-line technology,” Nicchi is quoted as saying by ANSA.

“We pointed out that it would remove the need to go back, because the refereeing team is now central to the speed of the game.

“I hope we can take one responsibility away from the referees to allow them to concentrate on others.”

The AIA head then said he hoped the move would signal ‘an end to controversy’.
