‘Gladbach? Viola mildly satisfied’

Fiorentina director Sandro Mencucci admits his club are only “mildly satisfied” with their Europa League last-32 opponents Borussia Monchengladbach.

Gladbach are one of the teams who have dropped into the Europa League from the Champions League group stage, but Mencucci accepts the Germans provide a much-needed test for Fiorentina if they are to progress as a team.

“We’re mildly satisfied with this draw, they’re a highly-respected team,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s important for us to face these types of teams so we can grow as a team and for the fans.

“Europa League our primary objective? Maybe that’s a bit exaggerated to say, but it’s definitely an objective.

“We’ve reached the semi-finals twice, there’s a bit of regret for the tie against Rangers, while Sevilla were perhaps unbeatable.

“We want to do well in the League, we expect difficult days. I saw a good team in Baku, so I’m confident.

“We want to fight on three fronts throughout the season.”
