Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the German side don’t have an option to buy Valentino Lazaro from Inter.

The 24-year-old moved on loan to Mönchengladbach last summer but has only played 10 times in the Bundesliga and 14 times in total.

Lazaro, who spent six months at Newcastle United in the Premier League last term, has missed 14 games through injuries this term and recently returned from a groin strain.

He has started the last two games in the Bundesliga, but Eberl confirmed Borussia don’t have an option to sign the player on a permanent deal in July.

“It’s a dry loan,” he said. “We are happy that he’s here, even if his two injuries have held him back.

“We will see what will be possible when we plan the team for next season.”

Lozano moved to Inter from Hertha Berlin ahead of 2019-20 but moved on after playing only 11 times under Antonio Conte, but his contract with the Nerazzurri expires in June 2023.
