Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has been listing his favourite Juventus memories and the best Bianconeri sides of his lifetime in an interview at Festival dello Sport, an event in Trento organised by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Giuntoli, who left Napoli after their title winning season in 2022-23 to join Massimiliano Allegri’s team, revealed that his father had been an enormous Juventus supporter and the pair have plenty of happy memories watching the team  alongside each other.

“He was a fanatic, I had a more rounded view of the game. He was a great fan, I definitely miss sharing certain moments with him,” he said during his conversation with the media.

When asked about the favourite Juve team he remembers watching, Giuntoli replied: “The one with Platini, Tardelli and Boniek, I knew the line-up off by heart.

“But Lippi’s team was also an extraordinary Juventus side, one that represented the right spirit in every way and should be remembered alongside the other great teams in history.”

Giuntoli was asked whether there was a particular result that stood out from his many years of work within the professional game.

“Every win has its charm, at every level,” he said. “In Serie B with Capri, last season with Napoli there were many, but the most important one is always the next game.”

There are also a handful of former Juve players that Giuntoli would not mind having back in the current first team squad. They include: “Del Piero, Baggio and Platini, they marked a great era in world football. To pick just one would just be too difficult.

Reporters then enquired as to how Giuntoli first became involved in the game.

He said: “Football was my greatest passion, but my mother wasn’t so happy. My father supported me more, but he was worried as well ,because there is certainly no guarantee of a future in the game. But, my passion was enough to make up for all the uncertainties.

“I had become a point of reference for the coaches, the directors and my teammates. I was managing without realising it. Not necessarily in the transfer market, but I gave some suggestions. Then at 24, I had the ambition to be a manager.”
