Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli insists the trip to Fiorentina is going to be ‘a battle for every ball’ and they are focused more on securing the top four rather than chasing leaders Inter.

It kicks off at the Stadio Artemio Franchi at 19.45 GMT.

Fiorentina are not speaking to the media ahead of the match, as they are joining the protest from their ultras against the fixture going ahead while the region is on its knees dealing with flash floods that killed seven and left hundreds homeless.

The fans are boycotting the game and will instead be helping to dig up mud and remove water from businesses and homes in the affected areas.

“I wanted to represent the affection of the club for all those who have been affected by these floods,” Giuntoli told DAZN.

The epic rivalry between these teams goes back decades, which makes it unusual that Giuntoli was born in Florence and yet insists he was always a Juventus supporter.

“It is a very exciting game, especially for me, but we have to focus on football and putting in a great performance, battling for every ball.”

Milan, Lazio and Atalanta all dropped points this weekend, so it is an opportunity for Juventus to keep up with leaders Inter.

“We look behind us at fourth place and it would be important to pick up points to create a cushion from the chasing pack.”

Moise Kean was visibly annoyed when substituted last week, having already seen two goals disallowed by VAR, but that bad temper did not require an intervention from the club.

“There was no need, he was disappointed, but once he got on the bench, he started cheering on his teammates. We have faith in him and the fact he starts this evening is proof of that.”
