“I know the lawyers are exchanging the contracts, we have reached an agreement and the paperwork was written up this week,” Giuntoli told Sky Sport Italia about Gattuso’s new contract.
“I don’t think there will be any problems. Gattuso is a little more agitated on a daily basis than Carlo Ancelotti was, but that’s just their personalities. They are both great professionals.”
Napoli lost the first game with AZ Alkmaar at the Stadio San Paolo, despite the Dutch side missing numerous players due to COVID.
“AZ played a style of football that they were frankly not used to, and we were unable to move the ball quickly enough. Both will try to win this evening.”
Gattuso said that captain Insigne was too ‘sulky’ for a leader and needed to be more optimistic.
“He feels the responsibility for the team, so he feels the ups and downs more than others,” added Giuntoli.
“Rino also said he’s one of the best players in Italy, so it was advice to help lift the mood throughout the squad. Insigne should always have the strength of character to react, even when things aren’t going well.”
