Whatever doubts still surrounded Olivier Giroud were firmly dispelled this season, with the Frenchman consistently coming up with the goods as Milan won their first Scudetto in a decade.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea man netted 14 goals this season under Stefano Pioli, being a key source of goals amid a slight striker injury crisis this campaign. Across the year Giroud proved his quality on a number of occasions as his goals won crucial points for the Rossoneri.

Early in the season, Giroud made his first decisive contribution, netting the only goal in a 1-0 win over Torino. Later in the campaign, his brace in the 2-1 derby win over Inter proved incredibly key, setting the Rossoneri up for Scudetto success. A month later and he netted the winner in a 1-0 clash with Napoli, further coming up with the goods when it counted most.

The equaliser in a tightly fought 2-1 clash with Lazio came at a crucial time as well, underlining his key contribution to the title race, which made it fate that he was the one to put Milan ahead in their final game of the season against Sassuolo, netting twice. In the Coppa Italia he was equally important, netting the equaliser in a tough 3-1 win over Genoa and scoring a brace in a comfortable 4-0 win over Lazio.

Giroud only cost Milan a minuscule fee of €1m and he’s proven himself to be worth a Scudetto.
