After playing a crucial role in Milan’s qualification to the Champions League semi-finals, Olivier Giroud is ready to put pen to paper on his new contract with the club.

The 36-year-old French striker scored the crucial goal in the Rossoneri’s 1-1 draw with Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, redeeming himself after missing a penalty early in the first half.

Giroud has found a new lease on life since joining Milan in July 2021 and was an important element in their Scudetto success last season. Since his arrival, he’s scored 27 goals and provided 10 assists in 76 appearances.

As detailed by multiple outlets including TMW and Calciomercato.com, Giroud will head to Milan’s headquarters today to officially put pen to paper on his new one-year contract with the club, worth around €3.5m net plus add-ons. There is also an informal option for a second year.

The Rossoneri are expected to pick up a new striker in the summer but Giroud will be an important part of the squad regardless, able to take on a role similar to the one held by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in recent years.
