Olivier Giroud admits Milan players ‘didn’t know whether to attack or defend’ after Napoli‘s first goal on Sunday.

Napoli recovered from two goals down at the Stadio Maradona, securing a 2-2 draw against Milan on Sunday.

Giroud had scored a brace for the Rossoneri in the first half, but goals from Matteo Politano and Giacomo Raspadori in the second half settled the score to 2-2.

Giroud looked furious when Stefano Pioli replaced him in the second half and admitted being ‘frustrated’ in a post-match interview with DAZN.

He said the same and even more during an interview with Milan TV.

“During the break we said we had to be ready because they would play a different sort of game,” said the French forward.

“Their confidence increased after they scored the first goal and we didn’t know whether we had to attack or defend, I am disappointed.”

Milan haven’t won any of the last three games across all competitions, losing to Juventus and PSG and drawing against Napoli.

The Rossoneri sit third in the Serie A table, three points below city rivals Inter. Their next Serie A match is a home fixture against Udinese on Saturday November 4 at 19:45 GMT.
