Giroud out with hamstring injury

Milan striker Olivier Giroud has suffered a hamstring injury and will be re-assessed in 10 days.

Coach Stefano Pioli, who signed a new deal with the Rossoneri today, will have to cope without the French centre-forward for at least 10 days.

Tuttomercatoweb and Calciomercato.com reports the former Chelsea and Arsenal player has suffered an injury in the left hamstring and will not be available for at least 10 days.

Giroud, who started in the 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid, will then be re-evaluated to determine the extent of the injury.

But the coach has received some good news too, as goalkeeper Mike Maignan and centre-back Fikayo Tomori are both back in training and are in contention for a place in the squad against Sassuolo this weekend.

Veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who replaced Giroud against the Spanish champions, should also be available for the game against the Neroverdi.

Milan are currently joint first with Napoli in Serie A, having picked up 32 points in 13 league games so far this term.
