Inter's swoop for Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud has hit two major obstacles, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Giroud is thought to be top of coach Antonio Conte's wishlist, as he wants more options in attack after losing Alex Sanchez for several months through injury.

The former Juventus boss worked with the Frenchman at Chelsea and would like a reunion at Inter.

Giroud, for his part, wants to make Didier Deschamps' France Euro 2020 squad and needs more playing time.

La Gazzetta report the two stumbling blocks are his wage demands and length of contract.

Giroud currently earns around €8m a season at Stamford Bridge, something the Inter hierarchy won't consider offering him.

The other issue is the duration of any agreement, as Inter would like to offer Giroud an 18-month contract, whereas the striker wants a deal to run to 2022.

Giroud, 33, has only played for Chelsea six times in all competitions this season, scoring once.
